Arusha Giraffe Centre
Regenerate, Educate, Innovate
We are committed to regenerating our landscapes. Having tested out theories on our own small farm we are now ready to inkspot these simple techniques out to the wider, dustier, area.
However education takes time and money so to make a durable system we have decided to show case the issues and some of the solutions affecting all of TZ wildlife by setting up an education centre.
In close collaboration with the TZ wildlife authorities and conservation professionals we have re introduced giraffe to our farm, where the once roamed 25 years ago. Giraffe have suffering a 50% population decline over the last three decades. Due to habitat lose and poaching. The hot spot for poaching in Northern Tanzania is an area called the Mwsakini Corridor outside of any protected areas, this is where our giraffes were rescued from. They will be the flagship of the project and act as a magnet to bring schoolchildren, locals and tourists alike to the education centre. In time they will help to create regenerated, durable areas where their progeny can be safely released into.
