Essential Travel Information
Packing & Luggage Guidelines
For your comfort and convenience, we recommend soft-sided duffel bags or carry bags for your safari luggage. A small day pack is perfect for your camera gear, binoculars, sunscreen and hat, especially on all-day game drives. If your safari includes light aircraft travel, keep in mind the 15kg luggage restriction. If you’re an avid photographer, let us know in advance, sometimes an extra seat is needed for additional equipment!
For both safari and beach adventures, packing light and practical is key. Bring comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing for game drives, and a warm layer for cooler evenings, especially in areas like Ngorongoro Crater. Don’t forget your hat for sun protection, sturdy walking shoes and a good pair of binoculars. In Muslim areas, particularly Zanzibar and Pemba, we kindly ask that you dress respectfully by covering your knees and shoulders and avoid wearing revealing clothing, especially when visiting villages and cities.
Vaccinations & Health Requirements
We recommend checking in with your local GP or health advisory bureau for the latest health guidelines before you travel. Ensure you have the necessary vaccinations and always carry a certificate or yellow international vaccination card. Malaria precautions are vital, so consult with your physician to find the best prophylactic treatment for you.
All lodges will provide mosquito nets, spray and insect-proof tents, but we also recommend using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves in the evenings.
Visa & Entry Guidelines
For most nationalities, a visa is required to enter Tanzania, which you can obtain on arrival for $50 ($100 for U.S. citizens). Alternatively, you can apply online in advance, but make sure to allow plenty of time for processing. Upon arrival, you’ll need to fill out an entry declaration form. We’ve provided all the information to make this process smooth!
