Our Story
Spotting the Aardvark’s Tracks
When we first bought our farm, we noticed some strange tracks: circular four-toed front prints and larger five-toed hind prints with deep claw prints. It felt like a quiet whisper from the wild. Curious, we set up a trail camera to uncover the mystery. Seeing the aardvarks captured on camera was magical. It was proof that we unknowingly shared our home with these elusive creatures. Few people have had the privilege of seeing these animals. They lead shy, nocturnal lives, rarely revealing themselves to the world.
That moment made us reflect on how many hidden wonders of Tanzania remain unseen, unless you take the time to tune into the land’s rhythm. That’s the experience we offer our guests: the chance to witness ‘the aardvark’ and uncover the quiet marvels that make this place so extraordinary.

A Life Rooted in Wilderness
Nat’s Safari Traditions
Growing up in Kenya
“We used to Safari a lot as kids. My father’s car of choice was always a Volvo Estate. A long rectangle of a car, great for loading up with the necessities of a safari. Back in heady days of little road safety, we would fight to travel in the boot, stretched out on mattresses, surrounded by pots, pans and camping gear. From this relative comfort, I would watch the clouds go by through the long windows of the Volvo – the journey being as exciting as the destination itself.
Even though I have been going on Safari as long as I can remember, the thrill of hearing a lion calling in the night whilst you are tucked up in your tent never gets old. Dawn chorus alerting one of the arrival of morning – such a cacophony that lying in would have been an impossibility. And pancakes for breakfast, cooked over the fire. A tradition we carry on through to our children today.”
Nick’s first safari
Riding through the Mvuradona Mountains
“My first safari was riding in the Mvuradona Mountains in Zimbabwe. From the moment we arrived I was hooked. The mess at the bush camp was cleverly wrapped around a kopjie with stunning views of the bush. Later on in the safari we climbed a huge rocky outcrop and spent the night atop of it just on bedrolls. The noises of the African bush at night thrilled me. Drumming started from one of the villages to warn away the elephants that we heard moving below us several hours before. It made me aware of the human connection to the wildlife beyond enjoying them from horseback. It was at that point that I knew I wanted to be included in the mosaic of bush life.”
